Scopello Sensu Reversible extra long linen cushion
Our custom cushions made with Walter G fabric are unique to Interior Collections.
One side has the Scopello (scalloped) design, that was inspired by a treasured ceramic collected in Sicily.
The other side has a beautiful fan-like design that was inspired by fabric from an antique Japanese kimono.
Together they form a marriage made in heaven. Whether you'd like to keep your styling colours light and simple or add a pop of personality and colour, you have both options with just this one cushion.
Walter G fabrics are hand block printing - a traditional art form that has been practiced in India for centuries. It involves the use of wooden blocks to create intricate designs on fabric. The process begins with the creation of a design, which is then carved onto a wooden block by a skilled artisan. The block is then dipped in ink or dye and stamped onto the fabric, creating a repeating pattern.
Hand block printing is a highly skilled art form that requires precision and patience. The artisans who practice this craft have often learned their trade from previous generations of their family and have honed their skills over many years. They use natural dyes made from plants and minerals, which give the fabrics a unique and vibrant look.
Today, hand block printing continues to be a popular art form in India, with artisans working in both traditional and modern styles. It is highly valued for its beauty, craftsmanship, and sustainability, as it involves using natural materials and traditional techniques. Many designers and fashion houses also incorporate hand block prints into their collections, helping to keep this ancient art form alive and thriving.
