Uluwatu Tobacco linen cushion

$120.00

Our Uluwatu Tobacco linen cushion by Walter G is hand block printed.  Hand block printing is a traditional art form that has been practiced in India for centuries. It involves the use of wooden blocks to create intricate designs on fabric. The process begins with the creation of a design, which is then carved onto a wooden block by a skilled artisan. The block is then dipped in ink or dye and stamped onto the fabric, creating a repeating pattern.

Hand block printing is a highly skilled art form that requires precision and patience. The artisans who practice this craft have often learned their trade from previous generations of their family and have honed their skills over many years. They use natural dyes made from plants and minerals, which give the fabrics a unique and vibrant look.

Hand block printing has a rich history in India and has been used to create everything from clothing and household textiles to tapestries and wall hangings. The designs used in this art form are often inspired by nature and feature intricate floral and geometric patterns. Each region of India has its own unique style of block printing, with different designs and colours that reflect the local culture and traditions.

Today, hand block printing continues to be a popular art form in India, with artisans working in both traditional and modern styles. It is highly valued for its beauty, craftsmanship, and sustainability, as it involves using natural materials and traditional techniques. Many designers and fashion houses also incorporate hand block prints into their collections, helping to keep this ancient art form alive and thriving.
